Instructions on searching

Searching with Quintura is easy and intuitive. Here are a few tips for how to make your searches more efficient.

Send a query

In the query box, type a word, several words, or a phrase (in quotation marks) you are looking for, and then click Find it! or press ENTER on your keyboard. Quintura sends your query to the selected search engine and retrieves found documents. The query words form the framework for the Quintura cloud using bold red font. Words making up the context of the query word are extracted from the found annotations and displayed on the map.

If you want to exclude a word or several words from your query, type the minus sign in front of the word (e.g. word1 -word2).

View context

To view the context of a word, point to this word. Once the context is displayed, handle the newly displayed words like the initially mapped words. If the Autorefine results check box is selected, each time you point to a word, new results are downloaded to refine your search results.

Add words

Click a context word in the cloud to add it to your query. The result list is updated.

Add missing words

To add a new word or phrase to the query, type it in the search box, and then click ENTER or enter the words in the text box that is displayed at a double-click on the empty space of the cloud. If you add a word preceeding by the minus sign, the word is excluded from the query (see below).

Exclude words from query

Point to a words: the Out button appears. Click Out . The word is excluded from the query and the hits containing excluded words are removed from the result list. If you changed your mind, erase these in the query box (excluded words are preceded by the minus sign).

To exclude a word missing on the map, enter the appropriate word preceded by a minus sign in the search box.

Exclude words missing on the map from query

This tool works simiar to adding missing words. Double-click on the empty space to display the text box and type the word you want to exclude preceeded by the minus sign. Do not use quotation marks and do not isolate the minus sign from the word.

Remove query words

If you do not require any of your query words (red words), click the word to remove the red highlighting. The selected word will no longer be handled as a query word. 'Unclicking' a single query word clears the cloud and displays the empty search box.
