Quintura cloud (visual map)

The Quintura cloud allows you to not only view the context of query words but also to manage it. If no search has been performed yet, the map contains only a floating query box where you can type your query and start your search by clicking Find it! . After your query is processed, the map is filled with words. Words shown in red are query words. Other words make up the context of the query. The mapped words are connected with the query words most closely.

Terms and terminology

Query words - words from the search box. The search engine looks for these words and highlights them in your search results.

Query context - words close to your query words by meaning. The context words let you refine your query.

Selected word - a word you are pointing to. If the Autorefinement check box is selected in your Settings, relevant links are downloaded (as if you add this word to your search query).

Selected word context - words close to the selected word by meaning. The context words let you change the direction of searching.

Favorite icon - an icon to the left of a word referring to a website found as most relevant for the specific word.

Various mouse actions trigger off certain effects in the cloud. The table below summarizes all possible mouse actions and the outcome in the cloud:

Mouse Action Effect
Click a word The word is highlighted with red and automatically added to the query. The new query is sent to the Web, new results are downloaded, and the cloud is rebuilt. Depending on the set Coverage value, the number of mapped words may be different. The higher the Coverage value, the more words you see on the visual map.
Click a query word (highlighted with red) The word is marked as an ordinary word (the red highlighting is removed and Quintura no longer treats it as a query word). 'Unclicking' a single query word clears the cloud and displays the empty search box.
Point to a word The map displays the context of the word. If the Autorefine results check box is selected in the Settings dialog box, each time you point to a word new results are downloaded. You can go deeper and add or exclude any of the context words to or from your query.
Also, the Out button is displayed. This button allows you to exclude the selected word from the query.
Point to a word, and then click Out near it The word is excluded from the query. The result list and the map are automatically updated and the files containing excluded words are removed from the list. To return any of the words, erase these in the search bar, and then click the appropriate word. The new query is sent to the Web and the result list is updated.
Double-click anywhere on the map The text box for adding query words is displayed. Type a word to add it to the query. Type a word preceeded by the minus sign to exclude it from your query (see above).
Click the Back button The previous cloud is reloaded
Click the Forward button This button is available only if you clicked the Back button at least once. The Forward button allows you to return to the cloud you left by clicking the Back button.
